Do Lukuma menstrual pads contain PFAS?

Lukuma does not use PFAS and our products do not contain PFAs. PFAS stands for per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances and include (PFOS and PFOA). These manufactured chemicals are fluorinated compounds and used in a variety of products including stain resistant upholstery, non-stick cookware, paints, cosmetics, food packaging and more.
Lukuma does not design products that require the functionality of PFAs or any dangerous chemicals. According to STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®, our fabrics meet the human-ecological requirements. OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 is one of the world's best-known labels for textiles tested for harmful substances. It stands for customer confidence and high product safety. How do I wash my menstrual pads?

Rinse thoroughly with cold water. Put it in the washing machine at 30 degrees. DONT use bleach or fabric softener. You can also wash them by hand. Hang it in a non-humid environment. Please do not iron them.

How many hours can I wear them?

Every flow is different! You can wear period absorbent pads for as long as your flow allows. You can tell your pad is full if you start to feel wet. Maximum 24 hours.

Will it smell?

Our menstrual pads are made from 95% cotton , so they have a natural odour-resistant properties. They are natural and safe for the human body. As long as they are cared for correctly, your Lukuma lingerie will minimise odour.
As with all blood, there may be a metallic smell you notice when you go to the toilet but no different to a disposable pad or other period protection. They start to smell if you have worn them too long or not changed them frequently enough for your flow.
